awesome sunday…

yesterday was fathers day. i love my dad, so first things first-i called my dad to wish him a happy fathers day. i thought about sending something-but then there’s “what do i get him?” dilemma. he’s so difficult to buy gifts for! he’s got everything he needs-and we are too practical to get useless gifts. i thought about surprising him and just show up-but that didn’t make much sense either since i plan on going down to miami soon (2 weeks away!). part of me feels guilty for not sending something, but then i think he’s practical enough to understand. i do miss him though. it’s tough being the only child and growing up so close to the family, and then living so far away. i think about coming home and catching him playing around on the piano, and then coming up and duetting “our” songs. i look forward to that when i come home-along with just hanging out and hearing him lecture me on how i should be doing things, how to react to situations, etc (which happen to be the same way i would normally do things-but i don’t think he’ll ever get that) maybe that’s just something dad’s do?

anyway, after i spoke to my dad, i got ready to head out to the beach with my neighbor & new friend lisa. it was supposed to be a trip that included camilo, but he decided to pass since he had a lot to get done at home that had to do with work. so lisa and i headed out to hull beach. what a gorgeous day it was! this was my first beach trip in the New England area since last year when kristina and i tried going to the beach in rode island (it was overcast and the water was yucky). anyway, we headed out at about 11 or so. stopped at a starbucks for some ice coffee on the way. i think we got to the beach at about 12:45 or so-i know this because we were keeping track of the high tide. turns out that the high tide covers the whole sitting beach area. so if you didn’t know any better and you saw the water coming towards you, you’d probably leave. while we waited we managed to get into the ice cold water (ok, it wasn’t ice cold-but it was close…my legs did go a little numb for a while). i surprised myself actually-i think all my friends and family back home would think i was crazy if they new how cold the water was! anyway, we waited till around 1:45 when high tide peak was and then headed out to this cool little joint down the street to grab some food. once we got back the tide started pulling back out-which made for some pretty cool waves, so then lisa went and got her boogie board. ok-i’ve never tired to boogie board before-but it was so much fun! if i end up going to the beach more often (which i hope to) i might consider getting one for myself. although, another thing i’ve been wanting to try for the longest is skim boarding and surfing (maybe next trip to beach?) unfortunatly the boogie surfing didn’t last as long as we would have liked. the waves started breaking too close to the shore, making it a bit unsafe since the shore was full of rocks. this made for some thawing out time-recovering from the ice cold water under the awesomeness of the sun. we chillied a bit longer, but then took off to ride around the town. there was this old fort that lisa knew about-which seemed to be abandoned with these really cool dark cave like rooms that were really dark and cold and echo-y. i have to say it was pretty awesome. the view from up there was nice-there were 2 light houses at the distance on it’s own little island-the bigger of the two seemingly operational. after driving around for a little more and imagining what it would be like to live in those amazing houses that face the ocean, we headed back home.

once i got home, i was still in chill mode so i vegged out on the couch for a little bit. watched a little of how it’s made on the science channel (love that show). then responded to an emergency lost kitty text from lisa-in which i played the role of sherlock holmes-turns out lina (her kitty) was just hanging out in her dresser all along (as oppsed to jumping off the balcony-phew!). then i hung out a little bit with her out on the porch while jackson and lina got some playtime together. it was such a beautiful night too-the moon was cresent shaped and the planet venus was right next to it. later on i went back home and ended my day in a nice long shower before coming to bed. too bad today didn’t go as chill…maybe tomorrow? good night!

(beach pics coming soon)
