friday interlude…
Published June 22nd, 2007 in lifea friend asked me yesterday if i read-i said yes. but in the back of my head i didn’t feel like it was an honest answer. i mean, don’t get me wrong, i like to read. but i don’t read as often as i’d like. whenever i pick up a book, i usually can’t stop until i’m done with it. so i don’t read as much because sort of interrupts my daily routine a little (i end up staying up late, ignore chores, etc).
then she also asked me if i knew who david sedaris was-i said “no-i don’t think so-but maybe”. i left feeling a little embarrassed for not knowing (i do have a horrible time remembering names anyway). she said he was a funny writer and that i should check him out.
so today for lunch, i jumped at the opportunity to go to the bookstore with my coworker (he needed to get a book). when we got there, i asked him about this writer and he recommended me talk pretty one day. i picked up holidays on ice along with it because it seemed like an easy quick read and also grabbed these little kitty magnetic page clips. can’t wait.
i later learn that he’s one of the story tellers on “this american life” on npr (i love “this american life”)… turns out i know who he is afterall.

love the bookmark!
David Sedaris is AWESOME!! Did you read those books? The first story in “Holidays…” had me crying from laughing so hard. And I love the essay, “Twelve Moments in the Life of an Artist”… the part about the typewriter through the forest - tears, TEARS! So funny…
